Vignette dual Roman shades with light filtering and room darkening fabrics

Dual Roman Shades

For Northern California homes, there’s nothing better than having a wide range of light control at the windows. Duolite® dual shades are available with Vignette®, but can also be an option in other roman shade styles. The dual shade system allows you to enjoy a completely bare window, a light filtering shade lowered in place, or a secondary blackout shade added in for days of intense sunlight–and nights when you need better sleep.

Learn more about dual shade window treatments and how they combine light filtering and room darkening fabrics in one shade.

Vignette Roman Shades showing rolling and stacking operating styles

Rolling vs. Stacking Style

Unlike traditional romans–limited to folds of fabric that gather as they rise–Vignette shades are unique. They can be customized with the same gathering of fabric, known as stacking. Or, you can design them to roll up and out of sight. Rolling romans are considered flat-front shades that roll up into the headrail as they rise, for contemporary appeal. With Hunter Douglas Vignette®, you choose your preference, whether stacking or rolling. When opened, you can see folds of fabrics resting at the top of the window, or view the simplicity of the headrail, with rolling shades tucked away inside. Specialty Shapes

If you have custom-shaped windows, you know how much character they can bring to a home. And, while you don’t want to cover up the shape, you’ve probably considered it, due to the comfort you need from light control & privacy. Vignette® Modern Roman Shades can be tailored for many specialty window shapes, allowing you to maintain architectural interest while improving comfort and privacy.

Frequently Asked Questions: Vignette® Shades

What makes Vignette® Modern Roman Shades unique?

Hunter Douglas Vignette® offers a chance for two vary different operating systems in the same collection: Rolling vs Stacking. They are also available to be designed with exclusive fabrics, offer no exposed cords, and can be enhanced with Duolite® dual shades or the top down bottom up feature for flexible light control.

What is the difference between rolling and stacking operation for Vignette®?

When traditional roman shades stack, the fabrics gather as they rise, leaving a neat stack of folded fabrics at the top of the window. Hunter Douglas Vignette® can be designed with that same operation. But, they can also be customized to roll instead. The fabric is detailed with boning, offering a modern presentation of clean lines. The fabrics roll up into the headrail, disappearing from sight.

Can Vignette® Shades be motorized?

Yes, they can be customized with PowerView® automation, allowing them to be controlled with a remote, an app, or with the smart home system and devices within the home.

Is the Vignette® collection available with room darkening?

Yes, there are both room darkening and light filtering fabrics available. You can also customize the room darkening experience of Vignette® Shades with Duolite® Dual Shades, which offers a light filtering shade and a secondary blackout roller shade that can lower into position when you want to block the light.

Are Vignette® shades good for large windows?

Yes. Vignette® Modern Roman Shades can be customized for large windows and expansive glass areas. Homeowners often choose them when they want the softness of fabric window treatments with the convenience of cordless or motorized operation.

Can Vignette® shades help reduce glare?

Yes. Light filtering fabrics diffuse harsh sunlight while maintaining a comfortable level of natural light. Room darkening fabrics can further reduce glare in media rooms, bedrooms and home offices.

Are Vignette® shades energy efficient?

Vignette® shades provide an additional layer between your window and living space, helping improve comfort throughout the year. Certain fabric selections can contribute to better insulation and reduced solar heat gain.

What rooms work best with Vignette® Roman Shades?

Vignette® shades are popular in living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, home offices and primary suites because they combine soft fabric styling with flexible privacy and light control.
