Top of the Leader Board: Silhouette Shade Features

Capture that “just right” light with Silhouette Sheer Shades and create the ideal atmosphere for your home. Silhouettes invite light into your space, but soften it as it enters. The result is pure joy and the perfect glow. In addition, your beautiful view to the outdoors is still accessible for you to enjoy.  With the many features of Silhouettes, a custom experience is right around the corner. At California Window Fashions, Silhouette Sheer Shades lead the pack in custom design.

The Debate: Open or Closed

We have an ongoing debate around here when it comes to Silhouette Sheer Shades, what’s best, open or closed? Those that keep them open, typically experience indirect light most of the day-no harsh sunlight. And lucky for them, they can enjoy the beautiful view.

Clients who choose to keep them closed, have good reason. Often it’s a privacy issue-their home may have street facing windows or close lying neighbors. Or, it may be relentless sunlight that just won’t quit and closing sheers may offer some relief. Open or closed, sheer shades do an incredible job setting the scene and making your home comfortable. The newest feature, Halo, allows a client to adjust vanes up channeling light into their room while they appear closed from the outside.

Two Shades can be Better than One

Hunter Douglas sheer shades can transform entering light from harsh to gentle and from bright to the perfect glow. If you want more control, look to dual sheer shades. This innovation brings serious room darkening capabilities to sheer shades with the addition of a secondary shade (accessible only when you need it). It’s just another feature offered by the Silhouette Sheer Shades suite.

The Color Scheme

Back to those fabric vanes that seem to “float” in between layers of sheers. Did you know they can be chosen to coordinate with your home’s aesthetic? That’s right. We offer a beautiful selection of fabrics with a variety of subtle texturing. Whether you like light or dark, colorful or neutral. We have a color scheme that you’ll love.

Neutrals have been the go-to for many clients and with the trend of black trim windows, they just pop.

The Sheer Fabrics

Remember the solid vanes float between two layers of sheer fabrics. What began as one type of sheer fabric, in a variety of colors, now has two options. ClearView fabrics offer a more defined view that’s sharp and crisp.

Whereas, the traditional sheers provide that soft, hazy look, people still ask for. It’s really a personal choice, but just another example of how Silhouette Shade features are truly customized to you.

How They Operate

We have many options when it comes to operating systems for your shades. Sometimes it’s the location of your windows that drives the selection of their mechanism, maybe in a hard to reach spot for example. For some homeowners, they like the idea of manual operation-from cordless to corded shades, and some prefer a motorized system for convenience. Operation is just another one of Silhouette Sheer shades features we love to talk about.

  • Cordless Shades: Push/Pull Operation with LiteRise
  • Retractable Corded Shades: UltraGlide
  • Cord Loop: Continuous Cord Rotation
  • Individual Motorization: The SoftTouch Wand
  • Motorized Shades: PowerView Automation

Doors & Windows

Doors and windows commonly share the same space in the home. Is there a way to style both to preserve your design flow? Our sheer shades are a great product for use on doors and windows, you can choose to cover both with vertical or horizontal sheer shades. You can also mix and match if you prefer, while Vertical Luminette sheers can cover the doors.
